Total Synthesis of Natural Products

Total synthesis provides samples of scarce and valuable natural products to use for the investigation of their role in biological systems. Synthesis also provides us with information about proposed biosyntheic pathways, structural assignments and compound reactivity as well as laying a platform to produce analogues for SAR studies and functional optimisation. 

We have completed the synthesis of numerous natural products with interesting biological activities and structures. We aim to design flexible synthetic routes that allow easy access to multiple natural and non-natural derivatives. Often this can be achieved by mimicking key biosynthetic transformations. We are currently working on several total synthesis projects on a range of targets from terpenes to peptides.
